Ich hab mal für jemanden auf einem Athlon 2900+ mit 400MB RAM Ubuntu Installiert(der hatte keine Ahnung, und das vorinstallierte Windows hatte 40 Viren drauf(laut Virencenter)(Gebraucht Gerät)) Und bei dem ist das System auch immer beim X Server gecrasht, öffne mal vielleicht wenn du es über resume gestartet hast, via Strg + F1 eine Richtige Console, und deinstalliere mal Gnome und X11, danach kannst du das Paket "ubuntu-desktop" installieren, beidem X11 und Gnome wieder installiert werden. (Alternativ "xubuntu-desktop" für XFce oder "edubuntu-desktop" für KDE ooder "ubuntu-studio" für Gnome in der Ubuntu Studio Version). Dann dürfte es laufen. Ansonsten mach mal die xorg.conf platt, Terminiere X und gebe aus einer richtigen Console "X -configure" ein, und danach nennst du die "xorg.conf.new" zu "xorg.conf" um, dannach "startx".

Mit GRUB hat das übrigends nix zutun, Grub lädt nur dn Kernel, das kann so einen Fehler nicht auslösen.

Hm, also ich hab auch Probleme mit dem X-Server, aber nur, wenn ich eine zu alte Kernelversion starte...
Ich weiß nicht, ob dir das hilft, aber such doch ersteinmal in der Konsole (STRG + F1) nach den installierten Kerneln und guck nach, welchen von denen du über GRUB startest.
(Wobei das natürlich nicht direkt mit X zusammenhängt, sondern mit den Treibern...für bei mir meine NVidia-Karte)

Den X-Server gleich neu zu installieren halte ich nicht für so gut.
Schau dir doch erst einmal die xorg.conf an.
Bzw poste sie hier z.B.

Mit welchen Befehlen und wo (In der Konsole habe ich strg+F1 gedrückt aber nichts passiert ) ?

Die xorg.conf liegt im /etc/X11-Verzeichnis. Du kannst sie per

gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

öffnen.
Manuell würde ich da lieber nichts ändern (kannst du ohne root-Rechte auch gar nicht). Überlass das lieber dafür gemachten Tools, wie z.B. nvidia-xconfig. Es gibt auch noch ein anderes, das steht in der Original xorg.conf ganz oben, aber die hab ich nicht mehr (meine wurde vom Nvidia-Treiber erstellt).

Für den Textmodus muss man so weit ich weiß Strg+Alt+F1 drücken (um zurück zur grafischen Oberfläche zu gelangen das gleiche mit F7). Aber da macht oft der Nvidia-Treiber nicht mit.

Es wird wie ich es verstanden habe erklärt mit was xorg.conf erstellt ist und das sie automatisch aktualisiert wird.

Ähm deine xorg.conf sieht aber nicht sehr konfiguriert aus, Terminier mal x und gib "X -configure" ein, und ersetzte die xorg.conf durch die dadurch ersetellt xorg.conf.new.
Die scheint keine festen definitionen der Geräte drin zu haben - kein Wunder, das X den Rechner crasht, da dadurch waerscheinlich falsche Treiber benutzt werden.(besser gesagt, X11 läuft willkürlich wie es Lust hat)

Die Option "-" wird nicht erkannt. Hast du zwischen "-" und "configure" ein Leerzeichen gemacht?
Wenn du eine Nvidia-Karte hast, versuchs mal mit
