The Humble Programmer, Edsger W. Dijkstra, ACM Turing Lecture, 1972
Falls ihr diesen Aufsatz von Edsger w. Dijkstra aus 1972 noch nicht kennt, lesen! Ganz. Langsam.
Es geht um die Anfänge des Berufs "Programmierer", also auch um seinen beruflichen Beginn, dann weiter zu den Meilensteinen der Programmierung (EDSAC, FORTRAN, LISP, ALGOL 60, PL/1) mit Perlen wie "we must be very careful when we give advice to younger people; sometimes they follow it", "FORTRAN’s tragic fate has been its wide acceptance, mentally chaining thousands and thousands of programmers to our past mistakes.", "We must not forget that it is not our business to make programs, it is our business to design classes of computations that will display a desired behaviour. "
Das letzte Drittel dreht sich um das letzte Zitat.
viel Vergnügen
